एमपीएससी मंत्र : इंग्रजी (प्रश्नांचे विश्लेषण)
दोन्ही भाषांची शब्द योजना, वाक्यरचना इत्यादी बाबी वेगळ्या आहेत.

मागील लेखामध्ये चर्चा केल्याप्रमाणे मराठी आणि इंग्रजी या भाषांचे व्याकरण ढोबळ नियमांच्या समान रचनेमध्ये दर्शवता येत असले तरी त्यांच्यामध्ये मूलभूत फरक आहे. दोन्ही भाषांची शब्द योजना, वाक्यरचना इत्यादी बाबी वेगळ्या आहेत. या लेखामध्ये तिन्ही पदांसाठीच्या परीक्षांमध्ये इंग्रजी भाषेसाठी विचारण्यात आलेल्या प्रश्नांचा आढावा व त्यांचे विश्लेषण करण्यात येत आहे.

वरील प्रातिनिधिक प्रश्नांच्या विश्लेषणातून पुढील मुद्दे समजून घेता येतील. :
* इंग्रजी वाक्यरचनेचे प्रकार व त्याचे नियम बारकाईने समजून घेणे आवश्यक आहे. प्रयोग, काळ आणि तुलनांचे स्तर (Degrees of Comparison) या घटकाचा अभ्यास कसा करावा, यासाठी सिव्हिल्स महाराष्ट्र – राज्य लोकसेवा आयोग परीक्षा माहितीकोश हे पुस्तक उपयोगी ठरेल.
* शब्द रचना, स्पेिलग, शब्दांचे प्रकार, यांवर सरळ व विश्लेषणात्मक अशा दोन्ही प्रकारे प्रश्न विचारण्यात आले आहेत. रेन ऑड मार्टिन किंवा कोणत्याही इंग्रजी व्याकरणाच्या प्रमाणित संदर्भ ग्रंथाचा वापर करावा.
* व्याकरणाच्या प्रश्नांसाठीही इंग्रजीचे आकलन आवश्यक आहे. वाक्य / शब्द यांचा अर्थ समजून घेऊन व्याकरणाचे नियम लागू करणे अशा प्रकारे काही प्रश्न विचारण्यात आले आहेत.
* समानार्थी व विरुद्धार्थी शब्द, वाक्प्रचार व म्हणी यांबाबतचे प्रश्न सोडविण्यासाठी रोजचे इंग्रजी वाचन व त्याचे आकलन याचा सराव आवश्यक आहे. वाक्प्रचार, म्हणी व अनेक शब्दांसाठी एका शब्दाचे उपयोजन यांची तयारी कशी करावी यासाठीही सिव्हील्स महाराष्ट्र वाचावे.
* उताऱ्यावरील प्रश्न हा काही पदांसाठीच्या पेपरचा घटक नव्हता. मात्र आता मुख्य परीक्षेमध्ये याचा समावेश करण्यात आला आहे. त्याच्या तयारीसाठी रोजचे वाचन आणि आकलनाचा सराव आवश्यक आहे.
